Practical help, clearly scoped

From the first question to a working result.

01

Build a useful picture of your systems

An agreed system register can identify devices, cloud services, business owners, suppliers and renewal dependencies. We distinguish verified information from unknowns so an incomplete record does not create false confidence. Credentials belong in a secure vault rather than a general staff document.

02

Write instructions for the person using them

A guide to joining a meeting needs different detail from a recovery procedure. We write around the intended user, use clear steps and check the instructions against the actual setup. Common subjects include new starters, shared files, equipment use and reporting an issue.

03

Keep records connected to changes

Documentation becomes unreliable when nobody owns updates. The support arrangement should say who maintains each record, what changes trigger an update and when a broader review happens. A review date records when something was checked, rather than implying it will always remain correct.

04

Turn findings into a practical plan

A useful IT plan distinguishes urgent faults, material risks, routine maintenance and future improvements. Recommendations identify dependencies, estimated costs where known and the decision required from the business. You can choose the next piece of work without being handed an unexplained shopping list.

Before we talk

A little context helps us get started.

You do not need a technical assessment before making contact. Share what you know; we can work through the gaps together.

  • Existing device, supplier and subscription records
  • The recurring questions your staff ask
  • Upcoming business changes and renewal dates
  • Who should own and access each document

Questions, answered

The details before you decide.

Something specific to your business? Ask Wayrest.

Can you document a system you did not install?

Yes, with authorised access and an agreed scope. Unknown or unverified information is marked clearly and investigated where practical.

Do we keep access to the documentation?

Access, ownership and handover arrangements are specified in the proposal. The intention is a usable business record, with sensitive information restricted appropriately.

Are passwords included in staff guides?

No. Credentials should be held in an agreed secure vault with controlled access. A guide may describe the access process without exposing the secret itself.

How do you keep instructions current?

Managed changes trigger updates to the relevant agreed records. A wider review schedule is set in the service scope, and documents carry an owner and review date.

Can you provide a monthly IT report?

A managed agreement can include a service summary with completed work, unresolved items, agreed checks and decisions needed. It should distinguish observations from confirmed results.

Can we start with documentation only?

Yes. A defined documentation or planning project can be scoped separately from ongoing support, with the systems and deliverables agreed first.
