The person behind Wayrest

Hi, I'm Calvin.

I'm a software engineer based in Newcastle. Before starting Wayrest, I worked across school ICT support, internal business systems and full-stack software development. That has meant helping people when technology gets in the way, as well as building the tools they use.

I started Wayrest to bring that same practical approach to business IT. Not every problem needs a new platform or a complicated project. Sometimes someone needs to take ownership, fix what is not working and explain the answer in plain English.

Wayrest is an independent business. When you contact us, you're dealing directly with the person responsible for understanding your needs and agreeing on the work.

How we work

A clear process. No mystery.

The goal is to make technology easier for your team to use and easier for your business to manage. We begin with what you already have, rather than assuming everything needs replacing.

See how managed support works
  1. Understand your businessTalk through your staff, systems and the problems worth solving first.
  2. Agree on the scopeSet out the work, responsibilities, service hours and costs before starting.
  3. Do the work and communicateHelp with the agreed tasks, explain decisions and coordinate specialists when needed.
  4. Leave things understandableAgree on useful system records, staff instructions and handover arrangements.

Working with an independent provider

You should never have to guess what happens next.

Choosing a smaller IT business should not mean losing visibility of your own technology. We discuss account ownership, access, documentation, escalation and the arrangements for a future handover as part of defining your service. Coverage and response expectations are set out in the agreement; we do not assume every client has automatic 24/7 support.

Some work—such as regulated cabling or electrical installations—requires appropriately qualified trades. Where specialist work is needed, we'll explain that boundary and agree on the next step rather than pretend to do everything ourselves.
