Practical help, clearly scoped

From the first question to a working result.

01

Start with the role, not a copied account

A request should name the start date, manager, work location and applications required. We confirm the access approver and required permissions rather than cloning another employee’s privileges without review. Equipment, subscriptions and lead times are checked before a start date is promised.

02

Test the complete first-day setup

The agreed work can cover the computer, monitors, dock, email, shared files, printer and meeting tools. We check the main tasks the person will perform and leave instructions for signing in and getting help. The manager or nominated contact confirms anything still outstanding.

03

Make departures a business decision

For offboarding, an authorised contact specifies when access should change and what must be preserved. Accounts, active sessions, shared resources and company equipment are reviewed within scope. Mail delegation, file transfer and retention decisions are recorded before destructive actions.

04

Reuse a checklist that fits your business

Once the process is established, future requests can use a consistent form and role checklist. That reduces repeated questions while leaving room for exceptions. Completed actions and unresolved items are recorded in your IT documentation.

Before we talk

A little context helps us get started.

You do not need a technical assessment before making contact. Share what you know; we can work through the gaps together.

  • Start or finish date, manager and approval contact
  • Required applications, groups and shared resources
  • Work location and available equipment
  • Retention, handover and returned-device requirements

Questions, answered

The details before you decide.

Something specific to your business? Ask Wayrest.

How much notice should we give for a new starter?

As much as possible. Procurement, delivery, licences and access approvals can take time. Send the start date early so we can confirm a practical schedule.

Can you set up a laptop we already own?

Yes, after checking suitability, condition and supported software. Any replacement, upgrade or reset is approved before proceeding.

Can you disable a departing employee’s access?

With clear business authorisation and an agreed effective time, we can carry out the scoped access changes. Preservation, delegation and equipment recovery need their own decisions.

Do you provide instructions for the new employee?

We can include a short guide for their setup, common tasks and support contact. The guide is checked against the agreed environment before handover.

Can onboarding be included in monthly support?

Yes, if it is listed in the agreement. Hardware, licences, large rollouts and work outside the covered hours may still be separate costs.

What about staff working from home?

We can discuss devices, authorised account access and remote setup. Home networking, personal devices and onsite travel are covered only where explicitly agreed.
